2024 Graduate Research Fellowship Pilot Program


Eligibility for Application

  • First-year doctoral students (who obtain new student status in February 2024 or September 2024

Eligibility to Claim the Fellowship

  1. Applicants will receive a confirmation letter from the NSTC once their applications are accepted through academic reviews and they need to matriculate and finalize their enrollment in the first year of the PhD program in the specific time required by their respective colleges/universities. The recipients will be awarded the "NSTC Graduate Research Fellowship (NSTC-GRF)" title and certificate and their respective colleges/universities will submit receipts of fund withdrawal following NSTC's instruction.

  2. The following individuals are not eligible to receive this fellowship:

    1. Those who are engaged in full-time paid employment in public or private sectors or who are part-time students.

    2. Students from Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China.

    3. Those who have applied for leave of absence and retained their admission eligibility or have not completed registration after admission. 

    4. Those who are concurrently in receipt of scholarships or subsidies offered by the ROC government.

Application Period and Quota

  1. Online Application Period

    The system will be open from December 1, 2024 (Sunday), to January 10, 2025 (Friday), at 12:00 noon. Applicants must upload all required documents and submit their applications before the deadline.

  2. Announcement of Review Results

    Scheduled for February 27, 2025 (Thursday). Extensions may be made if necessary.

  3. Quota

    Scholarships will be awarded based on the review results, with a maximum of 88 recipients. The total number of awards may be fewer if necessary.

Restrictions

  • Scholarship recipients who are simultaneously awarded under the "TMU International Graduate Student Scholarship," the " TMU International Graduate Student Scholarship Regulations and Qualifications," and the " TMU Grants for Outstanding International Graduate Students " may only choose one scholarship to receive. Those who are concurrently in receipt of scholarships or subsidies offered by the ROC government. may only choose one scholarship to receive.

  • For any potential issues that may arise from relinquishing the MoE-Elite scholarship, please consult with the OGE.
